The “Knowledge is Freedom” campaign from BuffaloGrid and Techfugees is aimed at bringing free education and energy to a million people in refugee camps in the next three years.

The campaign was inspired by the words of BuffaloGrid’s CSO, Vanessa Arelle, who told an audience at a Techfugees conference earlier this year

“KnowlEdgE is PowEr. PowEr is FrEEdom. FrEEdom is a Right.”

Throughout the campaign we are aiming to elevate the voices of displaced people across East Africa and the Middle-East by providing free access to educational content and a reliable way to keep their devices charged through the solar-powered BuffaloGrid Hub. 

Support Our Mission

We are currently raising the first $300K USD to deploy the first 150 hubs which will serve the first 90,000 users. All impact metrics will be shared live through the BuffaloGrid Cloud Service Dashboard with personalised direct access for donors. A donor will be able to see live Key Performance Indicators like, the amount of users served, the hours of educational content watched, and receive regular impact evaluation updates and reports of the campaign.

Both BuffaloGrid and Techfugees are accepting donations to make this possible. We are Fiscally Sponsored in the US which allow us to provide a 100% tax rebate in any donation from US taxpayers.
