The Finance Manager will operate a multi-territory finance function that covers everything from payments and invoicing to payroll and accounts. A key member of our global team, the Finance Manager will also help inform our financial strategy and work on unit economics calculations, help manage working capital commitments, reduce foreign exchange exposure and increase tax efficiency. All of this during an exciting period of forecasted growth and expansion.

Responsibilities (What You'll Be Doing)
Work with the leadership team to understand the strategic goals of the business and set financial priorities to support those goals.
As a fast growing start-up, BuffaloGrid needs to run a lean operation without compromising our growth. You will ensure this by maintaining budgetary control across the business.
Update our financial models & cash flow forecasts on an on-going basis, ensuring we always have a clear picture of the current financial state of the business.
Evaluate our financial processes, always looking for opportunities to improve our workflow and drive efficiency in finance and procurement across the business.
Ensure up-to-date book-keeping across both our UK and India business
Take charge of our external financial team and take responsibility for the work they do, including:
Management of accounts payables & receivables
Maintenance of accruals, prepayments and fixed assets along with creation and loading of journals
Oversee monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Manage payroll, pension scheme and employee contracts.
Manage our relationship with external advisors who handle R&D tax credits and government grants to ensure our business is making the most of available incentive schemes.
Support any legal work in co-ordination with our external lawyers and company secretaries
Core Skills (What We Want to See)
Ability to produce and manage in-depth financial models and cash flow forecasts
Be able to lead a data-centric approach, evaluating the company’s financial performance by gathering, analysing and interpreting data and metrics to provide clear insight.
Strong commercial awareness and be comfortable with the dynamics of a small, fast-growing business.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, you should be able to talk with ease to all members of the company, as well as external suppliers, customers and investors, and be comfortable collaborating with non-native English speakers from other cultures as our business expand into new markets.
Exceptional process design and management abilities, you should always be looking for ways to improve how our business functions.
Excellent problem solving skills, a hands on, can-do attitude to everything you do
Strong ability to prioritise your workload, you should always be assessing whether you are working on the most critical task for the business.
Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in everything you do.
Knowledge & Experience (What You Need to Have)
Prior experience working in a fast-moving small business or venture-backed startup
Either in-training for or the holder of a formal accounting qualification
High level of proficiency working with accounting software (we use Xero)
Proven experience accounting for FX gains/losses across multiple currencies (especially GBP, USD and INR)
